Posted:     Post subject: Your experience of shyness.

Shyness is a phenomena which does inevitably affect everyone at one point or another in their lives. It affects some people to a much greater extent than others, but the reasons for this are not completely understood. Why do we feel shy, or awkward in certain situations and not others? What is the experience of shyness caused by? Is the experience of shyness actually as much of a hindrance in life as is commonly thought? These are some of the questions I hope to provide a greater understanding of.

I am a third year Sociology student at the University of Sussex. I am currently undertaking a research project as part of my final year. There has been so little research published about this social phenomena, which affects so many people, and for a great deal of individuals causes life altering turmoil and confusion. I hope my research to shed some light upon 'shyness' and some of the questions attached to it .This study has passed university ethical approval, which means that participating has been deemed to hold no significant risk to any involved.

I am looking for individuals to volunteer to participate in this study. For ethical reasons I cannot accept anyone who is under the age of 16 years. Participation in this study simply involves answering a number of questions as fully as you feel comfortable to. Interviews can either take place via e-mail or Skype chat; whichever is most convenient for you. All information you provide will be held securely and anonymously.

If you are interested in participating, or simply wish to find out more information, please either leave a message below and your e-mail address. Alternatively, feel free to contact me privately at shypassions.com or at (removed).

Whatever your experience of shyness is or has been, your participation will be much appreciated. I very much look forward to hearing from you.

`my last job that i worked for 14 years came to an abrupt end when i become extremely shy to the point i had to quit, the crowds all the people around me i couldnt take it and made have social anxiety disorder and anxiety disorder with panic attacks,
for the longest time i wouldnt even leave my apartment until i had a grip of being in society and being able to relate to people again which took alot of work. but the shyness never left and the pain of it all is when i could remember a time when society and people didnt bother me a bit.
